The Hula Hoop was a toy of great popularity way back when I was a child. It was fun to get outside and meet up with friends and just hoop away. These great colorful rings were seen whirling around the bodies of both young and old. Often times it was a competition to see who could keep their hoop off the ground longest. The real hooping pros would be so bold as to whirl several hula hoops at one time!   “Hooping” was tons of  fun!

Fast forward around fifty years, and now, many of the the same hooping youngsters  have  rolls where hoops used to play. Obesity is a health crisis not restricted to the baby boomers. With lifestyles becoming more sedentary as well as stressful, one needs to make the time to exercise the body. Often, this just doesn’t happen.  Exercise routines become less than routine as boredom and excuses chip away at our enthusiasm.

Re-enter the hula hoop! It’s back and sticking. “Hooping” is back and seems to be here for a good long time. Young and old are now using the hula hoop to get in a fun, fat burning as well  core strengthening routine. When asked why the return has been received so enthusiastically, many hoopers have discovered that the weight loss becomes be the byproduct of PLAY!!

The new hula hoop market has so much more available than when I was a child.
